This is a Public reserve that is open to the public in the mountains in Northeast Molokai. The terrain is such that a 4 wheel drive vehicle with experienced driver is required. There are over 250 types of Hawaiian plants and 219 of them are only found here. There are countless species of insects and birds. Many are rare and only seen here. The Nature Conservatory of Hawaii staff and volunteers lead monthly guided hikes along the boardwalk in the preserve. The volcano is KAMAKOU of which half is on the island and the other half is under the sea.
